Activities

First and foremost the area is very well provided with all the traditional pursuits. So you will not find it difficult to find a golf course, tennis courts, swimming facilities, sailing schools and such like. In addition some books and games for your pleasure are available within the apartment.

But if you are looking for places to visit then Cornwall is so well provided that it is difficult to know where to start. The local post office in Fowey has literature on everything from a helicopter flight to the Scilly Isles to famous gardens, the world famous Eden project (very close by), sailing, zoos, shows such as "Jamaica Inn" performed in the very inn where the story took place and many many more.

During the Regatta week it is normal for many bands to play for free in the town square to supplement the wide variety of entertainment on offer. And during the Daphne du Maurier week there are several performances and activities of all kinds each and every day for some two weeks. These might include guided walks and tours of Du Maurier legendary spots, discussion groups led by or between famous folk, presentations given by modern day writers, painters, poets and musicians – or full scale jazz bands, comedians, actors, dance groups and many more.

There are of course sea and river trips including those to Polperro (a must), Mevagissey and upstream to the idyllic little village of Lerryn. Translated Lerryn means "friendly place" and once annually all the inhabitants give themselves a party usually in a marquee which all residents are expected to attend.

If history is your interest the area is full of incidents and records. The area is full of excellent walks in all directions and is part of the official south peninsula coastal walk. The nearest part of the coastal walk starts just down the road at Moneyready beach and is out of this world.

There are some excellent restaurants in and around Fowey to suit all tastes.
